Austria is proud to host the seventh edition of the European Cybersecurity Challenge - the annual European event that brings together young talent from across Europe to have fun and compete in cybersecurity!

Top cyber talents from each participating country will meet in Vienna to network and collaborate and finally compete against each other. Contestants will be challenged in solving security related tasks from domains such as web security, mobile security, cryptography, reverse engineering, hardware challenges and forensics and in the process collect points for solving them.

Vienna – FOR A GOOD REASON!

Vienna is among the most successful cities worldwide when quality of life, infrastructure and innovation are concerned. The aim is to hold this position in times to come. That is why the concept of the “smart city”, a city that is fit for the future and geared towards opportunities and that is capable of producing credible perspectives for its people was developed. “The best quality of life for all inhabitants of Vienna, while minimizing the consumption of resources. This will be realized through comprehensive innovation” is the vision of the Smart City Vienna framework strategy 2019-2050. This umbrella strategy for a smart city of the future includes goals such as reducing CO2 emissions, expanding renewable energy sources, modernising buildings and ensuring high-level medical care. Particularly, the City of Vienna considers responsible and inclusive digitalisation as a central strategic task.

In order to achieve the goals of the Smart City Vienna framework strategy, the use of modern technologies and processes is becoming increasingly important. Information and communication technology (ICT) forms the nervous system of the "smart" city. Digitalisation is changing our daily lives. The City of Vienna is meeting these challenges for example with the Digital Agenda Vienna 2025, a document that describes how this particular process of change can be successfully responded to. The "Vienna Digital Principles", like accessibility, digital equality, transparency and participation as well as strengthening the business location, underline the Viennese way: Technology follows people, not people follow technology – digital humanism is a focus topic.

With the DigitalCity.Wien initiative, the private sector and the City of Vienna have joined forces. Together they ensure that all Viennese people benefit from digitisation. Vienna sees digitisation as an instrument for improving the quality of life, which supports the responsible use of resources. The city of Vienna wants to become Europe's leading digitalisation capital.

Good luck to all the participants! We are looking forward to welcoming you all in Vienna!
